Shower Bases/Bathrooms

Many Bathrooms have inherent problems with leaking shower bases. Older poured on-site concrete bases were not sufficiently waterproofed and did not provide a suitable base for ceramic tiles, therefore causing the shower to leak. Most of these types of bases also have no Leak Control Flange installed.

Many insitu bases on timber floors have been tiled with no waterbar installed. Leak Control Flanges may also be blocked allowing water to travel beneath the tiles to outside the shower area causing water damage to skirting boards or jambs. On double storey houses the water may penetrate through to the ceiling below.

To completely repair and waterproof older shower bases there is no easy fix. The shower needs to be stripped out and the structural damage repaired prior to waterproofing and retiling, then the shower needs to be rebuilt prior to Flexitray applying the waterproofing membrane.

Balconies
Leaking balconies are similar to shower base repairs, in most cases the balcony has to be stripped, checked for any structural damage and rebuilt prior to Flexitray waterproofing the area.

Savings may be achieved by using a trafficable membrane instead of retiling. Flexitray can offer advice on an appropriate membrane suitable for application.

FLEXITRAY does not undertake any building works. We can assist this process by offering sound advice and professionally waterproofing your job.
